It all started in 2021, when the second lockdown was declared. That’s when our Founder, Kimaya, began her journey — from being a Software Engineer and Trainer to becoming a passionate creator of handcrafted home decor products.

With nearly 15 years of experience in software development and training, Kimaya is also a writer and blogger, sharing her thoughts at kimayakolhe.com. Creativity has always been her comfort zone — and whenever at home, decorating spaces with artistic touches came naturally to her.

The Beginning of Kimaya Home Decor

What began as a small home-based creative venture soon took shape as Kimaya Home Decor. Kimaya started designing unique and culturally inspired products like Chaurang Vastra (Designer cloth for choki), Oti Vastra (Godbharai Potli), Gudhi Vastra, Traditional Torans (Bandhanwars), and Table Runners and Cushion Covers in Bharatiya style.

A heartwarming response from customers boosted her confidence to continue experimenting and innovating. Apart from social media, Kimaya showcased her creations at various exhibitions, including Hunar Haat, Dehradun and Hunar Haat, Surat, where people from across Bharat admired her work — not just from Maharashtra but from several other states too.

In September 2022, Kimaya Home Decor stepped into a new phase by getting registered on Amazon, making it possible for customers from Maharashtra, Karnataka, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Goa, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, and Haryana to bring our creations into their homes.

Growth and New Experiments

Post our Amazon journey, we expanded our horizons with new product ranges and creative fabric experiments — blending traditional artistry with modern-day utility. From festive decor to everyday elegance, every piece was designed to add warmth and meaning to living spaces.

Our collection grew beyond torans and vastras to include fabric folders, laptop sleeves, wall frames, and custom-made home decor pieces. Each launch reflected our belief — that beauty lies in details and every home deserves a touch of handcrafted charm.

Our Store – A New Milestone 

The store inauguration was graced by Shailesh Rege Sir, Director of the renowned tutorial in Dombivli, whose presence added immense encouragement to our growing dream.

Since then, the store has received an overwhelming response from visitors who love exploring our handcrafted products in person. We continue to create and launch new decorative collections, blending tradition with modern aesthetics, all crafted with love by our small team of women artisans.
